Miraflor Travel was started out of my home in 2024. I have always had a passion for travel and finally felt it was the right time for me to make a career change from my office job in government to something that better reflected my personal interests and provided more balance for me and my family.

With the help of a fellow Smithereen and former Mackenzie Travel Agent, I found the perfect partner and host agency with The Travel Agent Next Door. With their training, expertise, and extensive industry partnerships I was able to turn my vision into reality.  

From the time I first travelled abroad, I was hooked on the wonder of experiencing new surroundings and ways of life that were so different than the small Northern town that I grew up in. As time went by, my appreciation for adventuring grew as did the list of places I have been fortunate enough to explore.

My Goal for Miraflor Travel is to take my personal knowledge and enthusiasm for helping others and translate that into helping you book the trip of a lifetime.

The name Miraflor was inspired by one of my first solo travel journeys where I spent time in the Miraflor Natural Reserve in Nicaragua. Travelling alone for the first time, and volunteering at a school in a small village, I truly got to experience my new surroundings by immersing myself in the history, people, culture, language, and food. Through the highs and lows of that trip, I created memories I’ll never forget and opened my eyes to how impactful it can be to experience ways of life so different from my own.  

The word “Miraflor” does not have a direct Spanish translation but is derived from “Miraflores,” which means “behold the flowers.” A reminder to stop and take in the beauty all around us. For me, that is the essence of travel – an opportunity to pause in the hustle and bustle of life to experience the magic of something new and different and see life from a different perspective.
